@blotto85 $1,000,000+? You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. An elephant hunt costs about $30,000 to $60,000 or so. That money goes to the people employed by the outfitter - trackers, chefs, ranch hands etc. A portion of it goes to the Tanzanian government - $2500 for anti-poaching and conservation and $7500-$20,000 for government fee. Plus there are spin-off jobs for mechanics, taxidermists, taxis, and tons of other stuff. Too bad it is over your head - as well as many others.

@AforAnarcho It isn't the shot, it's the hunt on an animal. The hunt can take hours, days or weeks and the shot is only a couple of seconds. Plus a hard shot would increase the chance that the animal would just be wounded and run off. This can lead to an infection that the animal must suffer through which will lead to its death anyways. This animal died within minutes of the shot and probably fed a whole village with its meat.
