An ident for TAS TV promoting their "First In Tasmania" slogan.

The reason for this slogan, as many of you viewers would know, is TAS TV's Hobart station TVT-6 was the first station on Tasmanian television way back on the 23rd May 1960.

  • So ENT bought Tasmanian Television Ltd and held onto it until bought by WIN, selling off their original TV station TNT-9 to SCB first?

  • @MicMogul Yep that's correct, ENT had to sell off either TNT or TVT in 1989 because of the government's legislation that was to introduce aggregation, and having Tasmania's two commercial television stations owned by the same company just wouldn't work. Having a third commercial television station wasn't going to work at that stage either because Tassie is a small state. There was no room for a third network, so one station, which was to be TNT, had to take dual affiliation in 1994.

  • The VO is actually Sam Anglesy.

  • Is it? How do you know that the VO is Sam Anglesy?

Apparently he also got some boomers hot under the collar with spectacular disco nights at Launceston's Tudor Inn!

Anyway, Ron & Sam did many VOs for TAS TV back then, so I got confused with this ID. :/

  • Because I have worked with Sam and that is his voice.

  • Great stuff, Jezza!

This ID package, of various fly-overs around southern Tasmania, started after TAS TV North was sold to Tricom in 1989. They were also the last non-Nine Network IDs aired before TAS TV signed affiliation with them (also the last, featuring that blue logo).

After they turned Nine gold, "Still The One" was used on air, yet they retained "First In Tasmania" in print, until WIN took them over. Btw, former Tasmania Today co-host, Ron Christie is the VO for these...
