(The video has 4-5 second lead in, so wait for it to start).

This is a video I did for my Information Design class. I am a big comic book fan so I decided to do a brief history of comics books. The overall scope of the project was to promote comic books and graphic novels for libraries. The video was just one aspect of the project, so it only covers subjects briefly.

I used mainly After Effects CS4 to do the project. The opening titles are patterned after the Superman opening titles. The rest of the project was mostly simple compositing of images. I used Premiere CS4 to edit every thing together. The narrator is me and is one of the things I'd like to change. Some of the animations are choppy but I had a due date for this and I had to hurry.

I realize that the writing for this isn't the best and is sappy and cheesy. But meh, all I wanted was an A, not an Oscar. Enjoy!

PS - And for all you fellow Superman fans, watch til the end for a little surprise ;-)

  • First Super HERO was POPEYE 1929.

  • I always regarded Popeye as a precursor to superheroes, and he certainly helped to pave the way. I think one of the main reasons he is viewed this way was the more comedic tone of Popeye strips. Some other characters with a good claim as a precursor to Superman would be the Shadow, the Phantom, etc. The publication of Action #1 marked the beginning of something different I believe from earlier prototypes and that is why most historians have marked the beginning of superheroes with that book.

  • Good vid :) i loved the end about batman lol

  • @Jediaces75

    Glad you liked it!

  • Congress didn't impose the CCA. It was self-imposed by the industry.

  • @andy68916 Very true. I did this all in the course of a few days, and obviously flubbed that part, though not intentionally.
