Ford 6.6 (401) start & rev up

Not really the first start. I had to crank & bleed it yesterday to get it ready to fire up. It would have started with less cranking if I had the fuel system fully primed. It's a 6.6 from a 92 F600. Wrecking yard wrote it off as a core. So far, I made a #0 plate, tightened up the gov springs, and advanced the timing a few degrees to 15*.

Wow. I think I'd be happy with 350. Are the parts still readily available?

Not too hard to find, you just have to look at New Holland tractor dealers most of the time. A good source for hi performance 6.6 or 7.8 Fords is Forresters

What kind of HP do you think you will be able to get out of the 6.6? I know where one is that I can get for a song, but it has a blown head gasket.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product here. I also think it's neat that you're staying with a ford engine for the truck. We have two trucks we run on our farm with that 6.6 and they've been very reliable. My only complaint with them is their lack of power, but I see you have a remedy for that problem!
