This seem like it takes a very long time to load.

@Orzeszekk It must be a candu. Hes talking about front and backside of horizontal rods and using natural uranium.
I wish this vid had talked about changing rods while the reactor is running, and burning to depletion. Its a really cool reactor.

Oh, and I do want to say that I did not lose support for nuclear energy, I just want to know if there is someone out there who can give me some answers

I am not sure if the owner/moderator of this channel is a nuclear physicist, or if you are in the community of this field. But honestly, what are your thoughts on Japan right now? Do you think it is worse than they say it is? If the rods melt and form a large mass, or even if they are able to keep water on them, how long will it take for them to burn themselves out?

need more videos this was great
thank you

How radioactive is the green fuel going in? I know it is very hot when it gets changed out of the reactor, but is it dangerously radioactive going in, that is the enriched uranium fuel. Could you stand beside a green fuel assembly and still live?

thank you for taking the time to make a video and also being able to post it for people like myself to watch and learn.

@monkeyboy4746
Actually it's the other way around. The fuel going in is only mildly radioactive, and the fuel coming out is extremely radioactive due to the small amount of fission products contained in the fuel element.
