It's very telling that the writers refer to the AMPTP as their "enemy." How can they expect to ever make a deal if they consider their supposed once-partners (and financers) to be evil supervillains? Or perhaps more importantly, why should the AMPTP give the WGA the time of day when the WGA does nothing but name call and put out stupid propaganda like this video? They seem to think they're cute, but videos like this are a clearcut example of *exactly* what the WGA is doing wrong.
So you'd rather that Conan lay off his entire staff rather than broadcast an unwritten show? I'd feel a lot more sympathetic to your cause if you gave a rat's @ss about collateral damage - maybe give some of your past salary to those in the industry who make 20% of what you make and who are actually struggling to make ends meet right now, rather than driving their Infinitis to Paramount with $7 coffee drinks.
Thank! You! I'm sick of everyone jumping on the pro-writer bandwagon just because they're creative and 'against the system'. I look forward to the WGA dissolving from their poorly timed temper tantrum and studios presenting a new business model for hiring writers. Scab! Scab! Everyone SCAB!!! I know I will be.
Sorry, but you're making my point for me: no consideration whatsoever of those who are losing their jobs over this, because you're so convinced that the world revolves around the writers and only the writers. If someone cares about crew members, then it must be because they're in the employ of the AMPTP and out to get you, because the crew members themselves don't even exist in your world.
For the record, I'm not even in the industry. But I have enough friends who are being hurt by this, people you probably don't even see when you pass them in the parking lot, that I decided to create a YouTube account to respond.
You need to tell your "friends" who are being hurt by this that if the writers lose, they can kiss their pension and health plans goodbye. That's what is at stake here -- following the lead of objectively corrupt quislings like Tom Short is only going to leave them in the lurch. Not that you actually care about little things like the facts, since your entire identity is clearly a fabrication.
