Could you give me the dimension drawing of the disc brake? I wanna try draw it out in catia also...

@littl86 thanks heaps! : )

nice animation. BB7 are the best mechanical disk brakes! even better than many low end hydraulics
-
i guess the pads are greesy..

only one pad that moves when the lever is pulled, so when braking the disc is bend to the fixed pad side. is that ok engineering-wise??? i'm a med student so i don't have any idea, any comment?

@mekore, The Idea is that you use the adjusters to to get the pads very close to the disc then yes only one side of the pads move and the caliper is fixed in place. The discs are thin and have a diameter that allows plenty of elastic bending so its no problem really also manufacturing a caliper that moves one side only is nice and simple. There are much worse design mechanical disc brakes than this that only adjust on one side etc. The hydraulic systems usually have pads that move on both sides.

Hi, excellent video, of a good braking device.
I noted the rotation of the disc in the animation, it should actually rotate in the opposite direction. Check the direction arrow on the actual disc. I only know this as I run BB7s inc Avid discs.
Would need a VERY keen eye to spot this!
Excellent work

Hi @ntsms69 - Thanks for the compliments
Well I did notice this after I recorded the final video but my lecturer would never know that so I just decided to leave it. There are a few other bits of detail that are not correct but unfortunately I didnt have the time to make it perfect also I wasn't able to simulate the spring which I really wanted to do but oh well. - Thanks again
