Quick vid of the car dock for the Motorola Droid X. The charger for the droid x plugs into the back of the dock so that when you mount the phone into the dock, the phone begins to charge. It also came with an aux cable (not used in video)

  • I don't have this phone, nor the car anymore. I have the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and a 2011 GTI. I don't have a real setup in the GTI yet. But yeah, I was going to run the cable behind the dash, but I wasn't sure how long I'd keep the phone, or the car.

  • This may be a dumb question, but how are the songs on your Droid able to play through your car speakers? I was searching for a way to do this and your video came back in the search results. I was curious how this works since I want to know before I purchase. Thanks for posting.

The phone is wirelessly connected (paired) to the Sony Head Unit in the car via Bluetooth. Both the head unit and the Droid X support A2DP, which basically means stereo streaming wirelessly through bluetooth. Once they are paired, I simply choose to have my media play out to the paired bluetooth device. I also have a Motorola S9HD bluetooth stereo headset that I use when I'm not in my car.

  • Yes, you can watch/play videos that are on the DroidX while driving and the sound does play through my car audio system.

yeah, i'm gonna have to agree with you that this phone pisses me off too. I actually switched from the iphone 3gs on AT&T and came to Verizon on the day that Verizon released the Droid X. The iPhone 3gs got on my nerves just as much. I would have to say that they both have their share of frustrations. The biggest plus for the Droid X for me is the replaceable battery. I have 3 batteries just in case. I too am thinking of going with apple's next release of the iphone.

  • Can you watch videos that are stored on the Droid X while driving and if so does the sound play through the car system?

  • @davechannel01 cool. Thanks for your time in replying man, its much appreciated.

I do not use an aux cable for audio. I conect via bluetooth. The back of the dock only has a connection for the micro usb charge cable connection. If you used the aux cable, there is a molded indentation on the back to hold the aux cable in place for quick connection. Also, it is very secure; slim-to-no chance that the phone would come free from the dock under rough roads and bumps. The dock slides onto the arm, which is the only way I see the phone coming dismounted.
