  • That is truly amazing! In a controlled environment such as a wind tunnel, they can survive. Out in the field usually there are bursts of wind from multiple directions that contribute to eventual failure. Debris/ice adds to this when the wind exceeds 100 mph, as does time and load to the bearings. I have seen many anemometers that last 20-50 yrs, however keep in mind that these are inland sensors or the higher quality models. This model is currently being used on Mt. Washington. Great quality!
