Real History:
The Eastern Front of World War II was a theatre of war between the European Axis powers , Germany , Romania , Hungary , Italy , Slovakia ,Croatia , Finland (not an Axis member) and the Soviet Union which encompassed Northern , Southern and Eastern Europe from 22 June 1941 to 9 May 1945. It was known by many different names depending on the nation, notably the Great Patriotic War in USSR, the Eastern Front (German : die Ostfront ), the Eastern Campaign (German : der Ostfeldzug) or the Russian Campaign (German : der Rußlandfeldzug) in Germany.
The battles on the "Eastern Front" constituted the largest military confrontation in history. They were characterised by unprecedented ferocity, wholesale destruction, mass deportations, and immense loss of life variously due to combat, starvation, disease, and massacres. The Eastern Front, as the site of nearly all extermination camps , death marches , ghettos , and the majority of pogroms , was central to the Holocaust . Various figures average a total number of 70,000,000 dead because of World War II ; with over 30 million dead, many of them civilians, the Eastern Front represents almost half of this total, and has been called a war of extermination . The Eastern Front was decisive in determining the outcome of World War II, eventually serving as the main reason for Germany's defeat. It resulted in the destruction of the Third Reich, thepartition of Germany and the rise of the Soviet Union as a military and industrial superpower .
The two principal belligerent powers were Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. The Soviet-Finnish Continuation War may be considered the northern flank of the Eastern Front. In addition, the joint German-Finnish operations across the northernmost Finnish-Soviet border and in theMurmansk region are also considered part of the Eastern Front.

In the beginning from around 0:30 to 0:42, what is that footage from? I mean, is it real WW2 footage? Or is it movie footage, and if so, are they using models or mock up vehicles? I ask because the tanks appear to be German Tigers! I;'e never seen so many Tigers in 1 place, not even in documentaries! Do you know anything about the beginning o the movie/the tanks???

@gjc82071 Sorry, probably disapointed you... It is only film, no war shots. In this film there are some Pfkws... But i many soviet era films you will find "remodeled" T-34s to german tanks... They put on T-34 some square plates and it looks like german tank. You can see that in 2:48. Look on chassis. Its only remake T-34...

@Stalin646 Yes you are correct. I see this now in the close-ups. (I watched only the aerial shot before writing this) But from a distance and from the top (because it was an aerial shot) they really look a lot like real German tanks. You know, at 2:48, I recognize the tanks road-wheels. I am pretty sure they are not T-34's, but instead are probably T-54/5's maybe. BTW, 1 great thing about USSR war films is that they usually had many many real tanks in their battle scenes, adding realism.
