@KirKanu It's 1:2 so he needs to win 1 time for every 2 wins of his opponent to break even. That's 1 out of 3 times which is roughly 33% like the top comment said...

@Anaxagoran Oh sorry, I was specifically talking in the context of what Rukicbc said. He calculated based on percentage. For example, if pot is $100 and opponent bets $50, to call you have to be correct 25% of the time (50 / 200). When calculating percentage we add the numbers together. For ratios that would be 150 to 50 (3 to 1). Perhaps you knew that already but what I should have just said is that Rukicbc was correct about the odds (34%).

what a donk whitey be

@stinky472 When you calculate pot odds you do not count what you will be putting in. You calculate the pot out there currently and base it against what you will be putting in

@Anaxagoran I'm not a fan of Gus but it's 250 to win 719. Your odds are calculated based on what the pot would be after you put in the bet. Gus had the correct odds to call against Deeb's 3-bet range. As for making the open-raise with QT, it's also not a horrible play. In fact Gus's play here has actually become fairly standard short-stack ICM strategy.
it was mathematically correct call. Gus had to call 250k to win the pot of 719k and it is 34% and he had about 35% chance to win.
