Everyone has to start somewhere, and even if it's not your first crack at assembling a computer, sometimes we all need a refresher.

One thing we have realized over the past few years of doing product reviews, is that there is a wide range of comfort levels when it comes to building and installing computer components.

Given that Hardware Canucks is all about delivering information about the latest and greatest components, we felt that a simple overview of the installation procedures of all the major hardware of a typical computer system would be really beneficial to our viewers.

So now, when you are watching or reading a product review on that hot new video card, or kickass case, but you aren't sure exactly what steps you need to take after buying it - here is your resource!

Always keep in mind that the manuals are your friend. Documation has come a long way in recent years, and if you ever have any questions that aren't answered in the videos or in the manuals, hop on over to the Hardware Canucks Forums and our many members will be more than happy to lend a hand.

  • I've been taking my computers to be assembled by third parties for years. Yet, I've been installing my own video cards, drives, ect ect for a decade now.

I put my installed my first power supply two weeks ago.

Once you get rid of the doubt, building a pc is a very easy thing. The computer desk is a harder thing to assemble.

Yes, but not enough of them have good Canadian lads in them.

  • is that a corsair 800d? did they make a red version?

  • By the way, I've recommended this video to lots of people on forums who were building computers.

  • I was 13 when I built my first PC. It doesn't take too long to actually install components (installing Windows and drivers takes half of the total setup time). Heck, it took about 20 minutes to rebuild my entire system when I bought a new case.

  • wow that heatsink is a fucking joke

  • Building my Pc took me an hour. Windows 7 1:30 hours

  • @snk9045 OMG.

  • Hardest part of putting together a PC is the watercooling loop. Leak checks and bleeding sucks.

  • @sdm1234567890 I was 13 and i built it under 6 hours. 1 hour of asembly and 5 hours about windows7

  • @sdm1234567890 dat is with all os and drivers installed i should have said made instead of built

  • @sdm1234567890 Under a day? Dude, it can be done in an hour TOPS. I tore mine down last week to install some new fans, and put it back together in less than half an hour. I took the motherboard out and everything. It takes longer to load the OS than it does to put the machine together most of the time.
