i dont feel we really have a right to state the symbolic meaning of the nosebleed. The only person who knows what it was ment to mean is the writer of the episode .
however with all symbolism, its open to interpretation.

I love her.

They have to bring her back. She was amazing.

one of my favorite episodes, great great scene by Paget.

@Alicia220 yes and thats a great inturpretation but realistically her nose could also be bleeding because its cold. But i like your idea better.

@katzui agreed. i also thought it could be a message from God saying that He still loves and cares for her despite her sin. just like when the rain turned to snow and Rossi said 'almost seems unreal' as he looked up into the sky like he was hinting at something...i loved the way the actress explained her own interpretation of the scene on the DVD bonus features.

It has a literal and symbolic interpretation. The victims in this ep were killed by a priest who was trying to "exorcise" them, but they all died (indirectly from poisoned holy water) and had suffered nose bleeds. At the end of the ep the unsub/priest threw holy water on her and then her nose bled too.

The symbolic meaning stems from the fact that she had an abortion at 15 and her priest said she was no longer welcome in church. One of the boys in the picture was the father, the other one (a friend) took her to get the abortion. From a religious stand point, the bleeding nose probably represents her "sin" since she's standing infront of a church.
