As requested, the long-awaited how-to video of my arrangement of Fiona Apple's "Extraordinary Machine"

I get pretty in-depth because there's a a few tricky bits in there. I broke it down by verse, chorus and bridge so this video is definitely for those players out there willing to try something new.

Any suggestions to improve the arrangement (other than smart alec) are welcome.

The original uke vid is here:

I'll be playing with Kara Hanley on 10 June 2009 at Three Trees CoffeeHouse in Bellingham, WA 7:30 pm

  • This is great! But during the "i'm an extraordinary machine part" what's the order of the strings that you're plucking? I'm trying to hard to watch but it's too fast... THANKS!

  • @ 5:44 I'm doing a pluck on the C chord on strings 1 & 3 then a reverse Travis (kinda), then on the G chord a first pluck on strings 2 & 3. I'm actually winging it on that part based on what I thought sounded good. It's not cast in stone so it's OK to mess around with it.

  • THANK YOU !!!!!!

  • You're welcome!!!!!

  • Nice tutorial. Next, you have to teach us how to sing like you.

  • Different class altogether...
