Tourism Boom for Bali

Now we have a story about one region that is not effected by the financial crisis. The ministry of culture and tourism in Bali Jero Wacik says the tourism industry is actually on the rise—he has reported more bookings for 2009 than 2008.

[Jero Wacik, Indonesian Minister of Culture and Tourism]:
"Tourists' contracts in next few years will have higher prices. So we've got our hotel fully-booked now with the lower price. Now we need to promote ourselves and make the tourists stay for a long time. We also need to promote our souvenirs so the tourists can go shopping more. So our souvenirs also need to have higher quality, so they are satisied."

The demand for Bali holidays has given hotel business a financial boost, even though the world financial crisis is still threatening
