Ex-Gay Survivor Christine Bakke speaks at a press conference in Denver opposing the 2008 NARTH Convention and Training Institute. Bakke says junk science promoted by NARTH is used to legitimize ex-gay programs which is one of the reasons Bakke herself tried and failed to change her sexual orientation.

Dr. Gerard Van den Aardweg's book "The Battle for Normality" is an excellent read for people who want to overcome the neurosis of same sex attraction. It is also a must read for those who want to understand why people suffer from same sex attraction.

Change is possible.

This lovely woman doesn't cite any false teaching of NARTH. She just insists that it is bad information. Just calling NARTH's teachings "unsound" doesn't make them unsound. Same sex attraction is a neurosis and people can be cured of it just like they can be cured of anorexia. Gender identity disorder and gender inferiority disorder are treatable. We also need to be honest about the effect that sexual abuse plays in the lives of many who end up suffering from same sex attract
