How to change the CPU and memory on an HP nc6120 laptop. I changed out a Pentium M 1.6GHz 725 processor to a Pentium M 2.13GHz 770. Then I changed out the stock 512MB of DDR 333 (PC2700) memory to 2GB of the same memory, same CAS latency, etc. Sorry that my mic fell off my shirt half-way through, at least you can still hear and understand what I'm saying. I had to edit the heck out of this to get it under 10 minutes, hope it's still complete enough.

  • I have an old NX6120 and everything looks the same from the one in this video. I raised the keyboard and found that the memory module is missing. So i removed the bottom lid to check the other memory module and it was there. Does that mean that the nx6120 only came with 256mb of memory? Or did someone steal my other 256mb? This video is kool, I´m going to buy the 2GB and the new processor and change them myself.

  • @StreetArtillery I seem to remember that they only came with one memory module and provided the other empty bay for memory expansion. Happy upgrading!

  • hp nx6110 Changing CPU ?

  • @00007bily I just did this one, the nc6120, for a friend who wanted it done at the time. For any other desktop or laptop, you'd have to research it and see what can be done.

  • @mokle999 Not necessarily but you'll need to make sure you keep your internal fans nice and clean and keep as much airflow going into the laptop as possible.

  • @steeljan Thank you! :D It suggested 2x4 GB but will i need to improve cooling and stuff like that too?

  • @mokle999 Go to crucial dotcom and either enter your computer's model or let crucial scan your computer. Either way, it will tell you exactly what memory modules your computer can take to upgrade it. Thanks for watching!
