Oct 18, 2008 - RDC's two QJ type steam locomotives roll eastbound on the Iowa Interstate RR out of Walcott, IA with a revenue freight train. The goal was to set a new record for steam hauled revenue tonnage in the 21st century.

  • @radeakins That was just this video they do get up and take their freight pretty fast! Just check the other videos and you will see they can haul ass too

  • sounds like it just crawled out of hell. but thats why new cams can never catch the real sound of a classic.....idk, just spekin out my mind....LAA DEE DAA

  • What I would like to see is a steam locomotive pull a roadrailer train. That would set a record.

  • I believe they are used mainly for "dinner trains" and the like. This was to set a record for steam powered revenue service for this century, if I'm not mistaken.

  • Great video. The whistle sounds like they are killing something!

  • Iowa Interstate is still using their QJ's!? I thought they stored them away to be sold or something. Good to see them being used for revenue freight.
