Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that end up to damage to the optic nerve that carries visual information from the eye to the brain. One of the damages that glaucoma leaves on patient eyes is increasing pressure in the eye that is known as intraocular pressure.
If glaucoma is diagnosed on early stage by doing annual eye exam and diagnostic test to exam optic nerves, the optic nerves could be saved and blindness won't happen. On late stages optometrist can't bring the vision back and the damages optic nerves can't be fixed.
