That's very brave, man!
Great chemistry!
I thought you might have blown yourself up putting hydrogen, air and gasoline together with a hot pieces of sodium...lol
Very well done

@TheMightyBlighty She must have without me even noticing, as I don't recall ever even having one ^.^ (not to mention I'm not in any way inclined to marry someone of that gender, but that's another story).
And thanks for the correction of the "pink stuff", I wasn't exactly sure what indicator it was. As I explained in another post I was more transcribing information than anything else; I'm a software engineer, not a chemist, and the info is from Wikipedia so it's a miracle it's right at all.

@BaluchScientist You are very wise, brother!
For anyone curious:
2Na + 2H2O ----> 2NaOH + H2
Or in English: 2 sodium mixed with 2 water gives 2 sodium hydroxide (which is lye, also known as caustic soda; this is the pink stuff at the bottom, mixed with the remaining water) and hydrogen (which at room temperature binds with each other to form pairs, just like oxygen does with itself; it's forming on the sodium and causing it to rise, and once it escapes the surface of the metal it causes it to sink again).
There, the full explanation ^.^

Sodium has 1 valence electrons(akali metal) ...... it doesnt react with oil... thats what they store it it in .... the solutlon at the bottom has water or a mixture that reacts with sodium..... gas is like oil so it doesnt react.... sinks hits the solution and reacts... goes up repeat
