The story takes place in 16th century England. But men like Sir Thomas More, who love life yet have the moral fiber to lay down their lives for their principles, are found in every century. Concentrating on the last seven years of English chancellor's life, the struggle between More and his King, Henry VIII, hinges on Henry's determination to break with Rome so he can divorce his current wife and wed again, and good Catholic More's inability to go along with such heresy. More resigns as chancellor, hoping to be able to live out his life as a private citizen. But Henry will settle for nothing less than that the much respected More give public approval to his headstrong course. Written by alfiehitchie

  • This soundtrack is extremely good and nearly impossible to find. Thanx for the post!

  • Hard to believe these days that a Hollywood studio could produce such an intelligent and brilliant film. These days they seem only to be able to churn out moronic crap.

  • Just finished this one and extremely enjoyed it. They don't write movies like this anymore. Paul Scofield was superb. And Robert Shaw had me cracking up as Henry VIII.

  • Just watched another 1966 film. Andrei Rublev by Tarkovsky. Kinda makes this movie look like kindergaten play on a million dollar budget.

The soundtrack is pretty frekn good tho. Heavy.

  • What an excellent film. One accessible to so many too.

  • ..but for Wales?...

But before anyone get's excited in my pointing out, I am welsh, and love that line from claustaphobic numbnut english, where welsh ran this england and wales, before the romans came, misinformation and information buried by the english late establishment, with help of their political brainwashing tory party.

  • perfect... one of my favourite movie, actor, music... the best of the best... i love it!

  • The man lived !, there is no artifice in that.

  • An extermely good sound track?,The era of Thomas Campion, William Byrd etc. its divine. Its the greatest film of all time, life is serious business and man is all conscience or this principality, hell. For all its joys, and beauties, I, like More and Socrates shall not be sad to pass it on.

  • Thanks for the info =)

  • She was only on it briefly, singing with the king

  • Can anyone tell me how I can get the soundtrack? I've tried everything so far, no luck
