This was filmed during late summer 2008 in Preston CT.
I generally don't care for bugs invading my personal space, but since I moved to Connecticut (READ: since I learned that they don't sting, bite, buzz or itch) ... I've become rather fond of dragonflies.
I get a kick out of the cool colors some have on them. I also find it fascinating that they have can mate while in flight. And I think they're quite oddly shaped. And so on and so forth ...
By the way I filmed this entire thing while holding my camcorder with my left hand. Pretty good, eh?
Thank you for watching! WH

Wow, what a courage! This one looks great, and I love the way you tolerate it on your hand. And wow, so great you made a video of this!
hehe... he can not see his eyeballs, but in the mirror he can! :-)
Love this! And when you have enough... and have a small paper around, I always put that under the "feet" of the unwelcome "person" that lands somewhere I don't prefer!

I love dragon fly's, you don't see them that much here in CA, but they were everywhere in Michigan. I kind of miss the outdoors in Michigan, but that's been another life of many years gone by, left there in 1975 and haven't been back. It's where I learned to fish, to cuss, drink and smoke and it took me 28 years to kick that nasty cigarette habit. But, I'd probably do it all over again as it's been a fun ride pretty much. Thanks for sharing!! Mark

Oodlesmoran - one of the funniest ladies on the Tube. So get this. The other day I called you Oddles. It was in an old comment I left at your place. I stumbled upon it. I was tempted to remove it but figured, well wait - perhaps she's a li'l odd sometimes too. LOL
Love it that you stopped by and hey, thanks for telling me it's good luck! Yay!

I love dragonflys!! :) I cant wait until spring to see them again! Thats great that you were able to let him stay on you even thou you were uncomfy!! Im thinking,, I could be wrong,, but I think that is a DamselFly... they land with their wings folded up like u showed where a Dragonfly when they land their wings go out to the side,, also a damselfly is thinner!! There are many different types of DamselFlys. There is a terrific Dragonfly & Damselfly book that I got from Mass Wildlife. :)

@NaturesFairy YES YES! You are exactly right and I never switched up the name of this when I found out because you lose the video comments when you do that.... bleh... silly YouTube and their rules.
Thank you so much for coming by.... I enjoyed myself a LOT over at your place... I can see many wonderful times ahead sharing nature vids, et al. ... Carol

i used to speak dragon fly as a kid and as near as i can tell - allowing for his accent and an extravagant, eastern ct. turn of phrase - he thought you were swell. a little nervous about being rejected, however - on a scale of 1 to 10, he was never sure exactly where he stood. at one point he started singing - it think it was " i'm a king bee."

BILL - An Irishman in Italy ... that's almost as odd as a New Yorker living in New England. Greetings my new friend. I do believe, after listening closely... he sang that song to me ... or wait. Was it "Sleepin Bee" by Truman Capote? Yes. Yes it was.
Thanks tons for stopping in Bill. I had great fun at your place today!

Moomay, this is my secone attempt at leaving you a comment reply... Ohhhh it's testy today! I feel it in my bones. LOL Thank you so much for coming by to see my damselfly. I was wrong. He wasn't a dragonfly at all and I should have known that! lol He went away as soon as I moved my hand to put the camera down with both hands. I've dumped too many cams off the boat and dock. Now it's a two-hand job. :)
