Carols suite from Pădureni area, Hunedoara, Transylvania, performed by a choir from Dabâca village. Field recordings from 1950's.
1. "Porni-și fiica prin grădină", a girl's carol, about a girl while walking to well is assaulted by three young lads who filch a little wreath, a ring, and an apple. She courses them: who stole her wreath shall marry with her landlady, who stole her ring shall carry it forever on his finger, and who stole her apple shall rust out like an ordinary apple.
2. "Poruncit-o fată dalbă", a girl's carol, about a girl who's asking to her hypothetical bridegroom to pay her a visit, but neither follow the muddy meadows path nor the dusty mountains path, but up in the skies path, close to the Moon, knitting a wreath.
3. "Născut-o, crescut-o", a married woman's carol. At sycamore maple tree shadow, a young lad is resting after a long ships custom-house duty.
4. "Fericean de el", old man's carol, about an old man sits at a golden table, where a golden apple tree grew up. A wing gust fall down the golden apples, where the old man gives them away to the love ones.
