This is a quick animation I did using Blender, a free, open source computer animation program. All the models in the clip were made by myself. It features the Ambassador Class U.S.S. Tycho departing from The Polaris Shipyards after an extensive refit. The Ambassador Class was an actual class of Starship sometimes featured on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. It's also been featured in some computer games.
I'm still learning basic animation and compositing, so I haven't gotten into doing photo-realistic animation yet. I prefer to mess around with shorter, less realistic clips that render quickly for the moment.
Amazing. You have some great skills with Blender. I've been using the free version of SketchUp for 3 years but I can't make heads or tales of Blender...

Thanks. It has been a long road, let me tell you. The learning curve is just killer, and trying to follow tutorials (even the good ones) is just agony at first. Gradually it becomes just intensely irritating. But I feel like I'm getting paid back quite a bit now, for the effort.
