PV = nRT is the Ideal Gas Law, and is not perfect, but very close to what happens in nature. In this first problem all units of measure for the variables were given in the required units for using this formula - volume in L, pressure in atm, n in mol, and T in K (Kelvins). You will always know when to use this formula, all units of measure are given for only one set of conditions, ie There may be a P given, but there will never be a 2nd pressure, you may get be given a V, but there will never be a second V.
