Mr.Frans Kalp from the Ligbron Academy of Technology (Secondary School in Ermelo, Mpumalanga, South Africa) was surprised by the positive impact video conferencing had on teaching and learning in his classroom and school. He pioneered an initiative to share SMART Board technology potential to less-advantaged schools in the district around Ermelo and started using videoconferencing to train and teach students and teachers in mathematics and science over a distance of 50 km. The purpose of this project is to uplift the standard of teaching and learning in rural and former less-advantage schools and to improve grade 12 results. Experienced teachers can now share their expertise to other school community's in need.
