Welcome to a ride-along! In this video, I show you the exposure therapy I've been doing the last month and a half. Exposure therapy involves putting yourself in the very situations that cause anxiety or ones you avoid. You face your fears directly. See what it's all about....

  • How is your situation now?

  • @flouflis1a Everything I did in this video I can now do with zero anxiety. I am doing much better now.

  • I think you are great. I hope you are well past this phase it being two years later. I started in my late 20's and have been suffering with a recurrence 25 years later. It has curtailed my life considerably for the past 5 years. I started exposure therapy and am trying now to go out with out taking ativan. You touch on so many things that I relate to ( the trap at the light especially). You are a brave and giving person to reach out and help. thank you kiddo.

  • @grios10 Thank you! Yes, I am well past being as bad as I was then. Although the last year has been a slower improvement, but only because I've put less time into it. I have to find a way to make time to ramp up my exposure therapy.

  • oh man i love the videos your my hero! Btw you look alot and sorta sound like andy dick lol don't want to offend you but i though it was cool i sure could use the help if you have any pointers for me i've been stuck in my house for 6 months and can only make it a mile away and then cannot go any farther

  • @94civiclxgrey ......don't lose hope, remember that a panic attack cannot hurt you and a good recovery program involves going out and facing your situations head on, coupled with the correct coping tools. At the very least, get that book! And therapy also goes a long ways if you have access to it.

  • @OriginalAtomicSheep springboard from which to go... and this may mean you stop posting videos on youtube if this is a little too personal.

2.) I think social anxiety isn't going to be cured by simply doing 1 thing a million times. I think you need to vary things. I haven't watched your other videos, but I think simply driving isn't going to solve it. I'm sure there's more than one thing that causes you anxiety and you need to experience more of them. The greater the variety the better.

  • I think doing something over and over again as you are, isn't going to help. I've experienced certain things over and over again for years without any change. Admittedly I didn't seek these situations and maybe seeking them is somewhat different but I think what you need to change is:

1.) in these videos, start being more open with your emotions i.e. tell the camera exactly why you are feeling anxious at any given time. At the moment, no viewer I think will be able to even suggest a spring

  • awesome man more power to ya! Im working on this kinda stuff aswell,

  • @94civiclxgrey I'm glad you enjoy the videos. No worries about the Andy Dick thing. I seem to look like a lot of different people to many people. Guess I have one of those faces.

How many of my videos have you gotten through so far? Unfortunately for pointers, I have no quick answers, other than watch the rest of the videos, get the book "Anxiety and Phobia Workbook" by Dr. Edmund Bourne, and definitely see a therapist if you can. But by all means, work hard at your recovery efforts.....
