http://www.cinefear.com - You know, I hate toilet humor, and I really mean that. But back in the early 80's, it was so much fun making something that would repulse people, sorta make them gag, whatever. I was really into John Waters at the time, and I used to correspond with him through the mail. I really don't care much for his films, but he is a funny person when he's live. Anyhow, I shot two films at the same time back between 1981-83. I ended up editing them together to make something called Wasteland, which was a spoof on television commercials. I hated TV commercials, I still do. This was a spoof on Roto Rooter. Relax, the turd is actually brownie mix. And I thought I was a genius when I made this. Yes, it's shot on Super 8mm film, that's all I used. It was a big hit with my girlfriends family, holiday time they forced me to bring it out. It made her father gag. I laughed. The whole film runs 22 minutes, an epic! This was also very much influenced by the Saturday Night Live spoof of TV commercials. The actor is doing his best Dan Aykroyd.
