Soccer passing is important and there are many soccer passing drills or passing drills for soccer to help your soccer passing and one touch soccer. This Online Soccer Academy training video is a soccer passing drill that will help you with a one touch pass in soccer.
Description:
Being able to pass one touch in soccer allows you to play at a faster pace. You don't need to play one touch all the time, but when you check your shoulder and see a defender coming, that's a good time to play a one touch pass back to your teammate that passed you the ball.
Key Points:
1. Don't lean back, have chest slightly over ball
2. Hit ball in middle to upper middle part of the ball to keep it on the ground. If you hit on the bottom of the ball this will cause ball to go up in the air.
3. Don't follow through on your pass. The ball already has energy in it, you don't need to do much in terms of leg swing, just make solid contact with a little leg swing.
4. User proper inside of the foot passing technique. For tips on inside of the foot passing watch my Online Soccer Academy training video titled "How to Pass a Soccer Ball"
Equipment Needed: Soccer ball, two cones, partner or a wall/fence
Exercise Player Can Do:
Set up two cones about 15 yards apart. Have partner pass you the ball, not to hard to start, you move to it slightly and make a one touch pass back. Partner takes two touches, then passes you a good ball again. After a minute, switch with your partner. Repeat sets until comfortable or you are tired.
Once comfortable doing this with a not to fast pass, then you can increase the degree of difficulty on this exercise by having your partner pass you the ball harder. You can also have them pass you a ball that is bouncing a little bit and challenge yourself that way to hit a one touch pass back on the ground.
What Player Could Be Doing Wrong:
If the ball is popping up when you pass it back it's because you are hitting on the bottom part of the ball and leaning back. It's natural to lean back when you do a one touch pass. Don't lean back, make sure you lean forward keeping your chest slightly over the ball and make contact on the middle to upper middle part of the ball. This helps keep it on the ground.
Bonus Tip:
It takes confidence to play a one touch pass. Don't be thinking I hope I don't mess up as you are passing; be confident in your abilities because you practice hard to improve your game.
If you do make a bad one touch pass, so what! Hustle back on defense, laugh it off and get it right the next time!

Hi, I'm a Filipino and I love football so much since 2002. I like your videos and everything is worth it to watch, You could be a manager of a top club someday, I guess:) I like it when you teach us in detail and what happens if there's something wrong in our practices. You're a genius and now I'm practicing everything that I've watched so far:) Do you have a drill or exercise on how to be more flexible? I mean I look awkward when I'm doing the step over haha!:D I'm 5'10" and it looks so funny:(

@reignofecho thanks for the kind words! I appreciate it! Good to hear you are practicing a lot! I don't have any videos yet on how to be more flexible. Maybe try some Yoga? that would help. Keep practicing the step over and you will become more comfortable doing it and not look so awkward.
