Bike riding up to the Constantiaberg radio mast in Cape Town is a tough one hour slog as you climb 3000 feet along an 11 km route up the back range of Table Mountain. The "up side" is you get to cruise all the way down through a beautiful landscape. In the late afternoon on a clear day, you descend down the steep western slope overlooking the setting sun that drops beyond the Sentinel, Karbonkelberg and Mount Rhodes of Hout Bay, and the Atlantic Ocean, before crossing the saddle and down the eastern slopes bathed in shadow and overlooking the vast suburban sprawl that rims False Bay.
