NHCC Choir I Dream a World

This is a video I put together for North Hennepin Community Choir in Brooklyn Park Minnesota to give them information about the history behind the song. At beginning of video Langston Hughes reads his poem Hold Fast To Dreams which was also arranged into a choral piece.

I gave the video a Martin Luther King theme which I thought was appropriate as he had a dream.

MLK however was not the inspiration for this choral arrangement by Andre J. Thomas..


I created another video based on this video which just contains the Martin Luther King section. When we sang this song for our concert we had a large screen behind the choir showing the various Martin Luther King images .

I made decision to put it to MLK montage instead. Basically the original was to do with Haiti revolution. So Andrew J Thomas may have been inspired by 9/11 to write this composition. I was inspired to put it to MLK. Neither 9/11 nor MLK directly relate to Haiti. It is such a lovely inspirational song it could go well with almost anything.

We sang this song at the Select National Junior High Honors Choir this year. The writer of this song came and talked to us about the song. He said he wrote it based off of Langston Hughes (which is said in the description), but he said he wrote it because of 9/11. Although it may sound directed toward MLK, it's not rly about him. Just thought I'd let you know.
