Half Life EP2 "the gnome+chopper" part 1

for people who don't know the game.
the player can to escort a garden gnome right from near the beginning of the game to the end.
As part of the extra "Little Rocket Man" achievement in Valve's Half-Life 2 , and launch him off in a rocket.
This involves lots of strategic gnome placement, some creative use of the grav-gun, some extremely careful driving, and lots and lots of gnome-loss-induced saving and loading.

I finally did this yesterday! I had a different strategy, but it takes ages. Leave the gnome somewhere you can find it, then drive through the tunnel. When It loads, get out of the car and run back to pick it up. You have to run an awful long way, but the chopper is gone:) Also, can anyone tell me if it gets easier after destroying the helicopter. Does the other car have as many problems?

getting the helicopter first is easier but a longer walk back to get the gnome.

You'd think a company as intelligent as Valve would have had the option of having a FUCKING OPENABLE/CLOSABLE TRUNK in the back of your car to put the god damned gnome.

But no.

They have to have to make me hate the game. I was fine with carrying the little bastard around with the Gravity gun before, but driving with it, having it slide out every 5 seconds is just bullshit.

Being an achievement whore has its drawbacks, I guess.
