Brenda Colahan talks about Australian Aboriginal art, the trends, the issues of provenance and art investing. Brenda comments on Greg Nazvanov's art investing.

With over a decade of expertise in banking, art, business, investment and financial management Greg is regarded as one of Australia's specialists in the Wealth Management, art and Investment fields.

Dr Greg Nazvanov MBA develops and manages investments in contemporary art with a specialist focus on Australian Aboriginal art. In his books Investing in Australian Aboriginal Art, Financial Planning for High Net-Worth Clients and Why You Need a Financial Adviser Nazvanov explains that art does not readily springs to mind when thinking of investment alternatives, but its long-term performance record argues that it should be. His research further suggests that Australian Aboriginal art outperforms other types of art and helps people to see the investment opportunity that Australian Aboriginal art as a separate asset class represents, particularly art by the emerging elders. Within the arts, when we think of 'emerging artists', we typically think of 'young artists'. However, in Australian Aboriginal art beginning a career in painting or sculpture later in life is most common, after a lifetime of other endeavours. Unfortunately, the life expectancy of Aboriginal people living in remote area is far shorter than that of non-Indigenous Australians, which also means that many elder artists' careers are often short-lived.

Before his writing career, Nazvanov spent a decade coaching and advising clients at Credit Suisse, BT, Westpac Bank and worked closely with Macquarie, Colonial, Platinum, ING, Deutsche, Barclays, Vanguard, Investors Mutual, Merrill Lynch, Platinum, Merrill Lynch, Blackrock, Goldman Sachs JBWere, Templeton, Man, AXA, Tyndall, Zurich, Fidelity, UBS and other asset managers.

He is an author of books on Wealth Management, Investing, Art, Estate Planning, Retirement, Real estate and Business Management, plus is a passionate philanthropist who donated thousands of dollars to charity and cultural organizations (The Philanthropist: creativity fosters community spirit", Planner -The Financial Planning Magazine, FPA, April 2008, pp.40-43).
In 2006, Nazvanov became a CFP® or CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner. In 2007, Greg was named as "One of the nation's top 50 best financial planners" by Australian Financial Review Smart Investor (Feb 2007, p.46). The following year he was named as one of the Top 10 financial advisers in Australia in the prestigious Australian Financial Review Smart Investor Masterclass for Financial Planning (Feb 2008, pp.52-53).

The award recognizes his high level of knowledge and expertise that enables him to provide exceptional advice to his clients.
