I've been progressively pressing myself to learn more challenging songs as I go, and I've gotten a nice set of songs memorized. The only thing is, I don't really know if I'm getting better. All I've been doing is using the same set of skills to slowly and painstakingly read sheet music in order to play, while making a whole ton of mistakes.
I decided to try my hand at an easier song. This song is from the game of fame, "Final Fantasy VII". It's a slow, simple song played in towns and villages. A song of comparable difficulty would be Elia, Maiden of Water. It took me about two days to learn this song, whereas previously I took about the span of three weeks. It looks like I'm improving at reading-playing coordination.
It looks like making mistakes is still the norm. Admittedly, this is only a "rough draft", as you can clearly hear my brother and mother talking, laughing, and making noises in the background. I think I'm the only one in my family to actually know (and care) about music.
