Black Rock Community Dance-A-Thon HELP FOR HAITI
Peyton and Cambell Bynum, who are 9 year old sisters at Black Rock Elementary School in the Vista Ridge neighborhood in Erie, CO told their parents and their teachers that they wanted to help the kids in Haiti. They came up with the idea of having a dance-a-thon fund raiser that would involve their neighborhood and their school community. The money raised by the dance-a-thon will be donated to Plan USA which is an organization that is helping children and families in Haiti. PLAN USA is on the ground in Haiti, distributing emergency supplies and assessing long-term recovery needs. A gift of $109 can help provide a family with an emergency kit that contains food, water purification tablets, plastic tents for shelter, and some other basic necessities. Peyton and Cambell, along with their friends, Lauren Campbell and Hannah ONeill, started their fund raising efforts with a bake sale a couple of weeks ago. The dance-a-thon washeld on March 5 and featured some games, a hat contest, crazy sock parade, surprise entertainment and of course lots and lots of dancing. At current count the dance-a-thon had 82 registered participants and raised about $2,800.00. Donations are still being accepted through the school or online at www.blackrockdance-a-thon.org or contact us at info@blackrockdance-a-thon.org.
