  • what does that german text that comes up at 00:10 say? can someone translate it? if you pause it at just the right time you can catch it. i did, its hard to read but its something like "-fur att kolla att ufrustning och besattning uppfyllde alla krav."

  • That sounds more like swedish, and since the clip is from a swedish site then .. yeah :).

och besattning uppfyllde alla krav means that the crew did all expetations .. but the other thing, it don't know :).

  • Yes, i found out it was Olympic later, but anyway.. Its so sad for him, anyway what ship he is on.. :(..

Just try to imagine Titanic down on the buttom of the sea.. I've red that it would be gone by 100 years..

  • @fuhmeregan I totally agree with your excellent comment, at last someone who has logics and knows what he's talkin' about !!!

Lots of stupidity and arrogance on board of Titanic that time , a long list of mistakes and misconductures that was unthinkable even for the naval standars of 1912 , a dumb-fuck commander acting as an irresponsible douchebag and still there are people with selective logics and moral values who praise him only x the movie ....!!

    Enough said

  • @badturkali and the olympic

  • There's the old stupid suck hole. He kept at full speed, having had ship warnings from others about icebergs that night, but at the urgings of the vessel owners and his own slob-ego had the mutts on watch stay at full speed, to make a record crossing time etc. The Titanics' loss was one of the best examples of Human Error in history!

  • Y he couldn't

  • he was the captain of titanic

  • Excellent footage of my favorite Captain... I stumbled upon these videos a few months ago and I was happy to know that there was some video footage of him.

This video was obviously taken on the Olympic, probably on a voyage to a more tropical area (hence the white uniform).

Smith was an excellent Captain, and it's sad that he had to die on the maiden voyage of the Titanic... One of the reasons being that he would be retired after the trip!

But good ol' E.J. and Titanic will be in our hearts.

  • It's swedish, it means:

To check that all equipment and the crew forfilled all demands.
