@shoprat17 The battery/charging light comes on when charging voltage drops below a certain level. The light should come on, and remain on, with key on engine off. When the engine isn't turning, neither is the alternator, therefore it is producing 0 volts. The light is doing exactly what it was designed to do.
think that may of been a design flaw. It probably is set off by current going to the battery light in the dash and therefore would come on when the key is on but engine isn't running...
@RicanSHO How right you are, good sir. But for me, personally, I tend to drive pieces of shit until the are no longer able to move. To get a potential problem checked out would be more costly then just getting a "new" car. So, in my case, I like lights.
@TrunkMonkey420 Most people usually ignore the light and continue on driving and let it get so bad that usually it can't be fixed...then they blame the cars manufacturer.
@RicanSHO I suppose it's opinion, you know? I'm fine with a little light that blinks occasionally, instead of a voice that, in my opinion, is quite annoying.
@TrunkMonkey420 Y would it piss you off? It's warning you to have a problem fixed?? Fix the problem and you wouldn't have to worry about the voice. I LOVE this feature!
@Moistcabbage1 o ya, forgot bout that, lot them old ones and lot of the new ones still do that...

@shoprat17 If you turn a key you will get a batt light when it's not running.
