  • The shay is a nice machine where the gears, and rods are all on one side making it easy to operate, and diagnose a problem. But the heisler with its V2 engine is far a more surperior machine, for it's a faster, and more powerful locomotive. IT's shaft runs down the middle of engine rather than just one side, making it easier to manuver the sharp twists, and turns, and there are less gears to break down in the heisler. But the shay is more user friendly for crews than the finiky heisler.

  • What's the deal harming two defenceless Narrow Guage Geared Engines? LOL

  • If anyone is around this area of Santa Cruz or San Jose California I recommend they make the time to go and see this place and its famous one of a kind history.. Its alot more than just the great train itself. Its about the Special one of a kind Redwood Trees that grow no were else in the world. The logging history, The mountain people. And the good old timey music. Real fun for family and kids. Highly recommend it.

  • That was fun and helpful for me to decide to take our kids on the train today. Thanks, DSC
