1A Auto shows you how to repair, install, fix, change or replace a broken, weak, noisy or screeching heater and air conditioning fan blower motor on a 1998 Ford Explorer. This procedure should be the same or similar on 1995-2005 Ford Explorer, 2001-2003 Explorer Sport, 2001-2005 Explorer Sport Trac and 1997-2001 Mercury Mountaineer. This motor also fits 1998-2008 Ford Ranger though installation may be somewhat different.

  • I just wish to thank you for this video. I am going to try this tomorrow as I have no fan blower at all now and it is due to get cold again.

  • @scrapingthebarrel Thank you for visiting our auto repair channel on YouTube.

  • i have a 2002 Acura tl that recently started making noise when i adjust the flow of the heat/ac its not a whinning noise, its more of a clicking. not very loud but would a bad blower create that noise?

  • @domenicd123 It may be the blower motor. You might want to take the blower motor out to see if there's any debris in the cage making some noise. Hope this helps you out.

  • I can see you are very professional and now a lot about cars, do you know if a 2003 explorer have a cabin air filter, I will appreciate any info. Thx.

  • @trabajador98 If it does usually they're located on the passenger side under the glove box. If your not sure if your vehicle came with one, you could call the Ford dealer with your vin number and they could tell you if it did or not. Hope this helps you out.

  • @d0gg0d I would check the plug to the blower motor first to see if there is current going to it when the heater is on. if there is, the blower motor is likely bad. If there isn't current current going to the plug then you may want to check the fuse to see if it's bad.

  • I have a Ford Explorer 96 XL and the A/C Heater fan isn't working. No cold or hot air is blowing into my car. I was wondering if I need to replace the A/C Heater fan?

  • @commonshoe There may be a nut or a screw that holds it in place.

  • @underwood11100 At the current moment, we do not have a video that shows this particular repair.
