In June of 2008 the diehards decided that the 150 mile Cape Fear River trip was not long enough so we planned a trip of over 230 miles down the Neuse River from Raleigh to just below New Bern, then through the Harlowe Canal and on to Morehead City. As with all our other trips, fate has a way of stepping in and changing the best laid plans. At literally the last minute we decided to cut out a day and start our trip from Smithfield. The change in plans put us arriving in New Bern late in the afternoon of day 5. We got caught in a thunderstorm with heavy seas on the mile crossing from Glennburnie Park to the KOA across the river. The next day as we were paddling out of New Bern and under the 70 bridge, we broke a paddle. Without a spare, we limped back into New Bern to try and get a new one or make repairs. We had no luck and since we had already blown most of the day in the attempt, we decided to call it a trip and head back for home. It was still a great trip of 150 miles, and one that very few have made.
Very nice video . . . did anyone have to 'squeal lak a peeg!'?

What a cool trip and awesome video, I liked the motion effects, and transitions that made it appear you were actually moving down the river.
