A few months ago I was looking to update my 10yr tetanus shot and I couldn't find a doctor that would accept a so called "self pay" patient, thats "self pay" with an attitude. I ended up going to the county Health dept. Thats when I realized if I became ill really needing help I'd be in real trouble. My only option ER and out to weeks pay if it's simple and I'm lucky. Anybody who pays there bills knows ER is not free and INS is not afordable by any practical standard. Not mine anyway, its a mess
I also contacted my Congresswoman and Senators, only to implore them to vote NO on the President's bill. I appreciate that the US healthcare system needs reform, but this is not an all-or-nothing issue. There are those in Congress (Dems AND Republicans) who have brought forth more reasonable bills, only to be shot down by Ms. Pelosi, who said that we need to pass the bill in order to find out what's in it! Isn't this backward? This is $1 Trillion dollars!
I just called Congress at 202-225-3121 and let my representative there know that I support the Healthcare Reform and hope that it passes through for the President's signature. All of us need relief from the skyrocketing cost of insurance premiums.
got your back, add in a public option or remove the mandate for coverage and pass with reconcilliation. you have tried hard and long to reach compromise and support for a bi-partisan bill. Democrats have even adopted and added Republican ideas into reform. Nows the time to move forward. push.
