Also, when you blend the fractal noise with the footage, all I get is a white screen.

@paugsol Make sure that your fractal noise is on an adjustment layer, not a solid, that might be the problem.

I have a friend who made a perfect patronus using a program called houdini 10

@sonicfreak04 Yeah I can imagine he did. They used Houdini (a 3D animation and modelling program) to do alot of the effects in the actual films.

And can I use them with after effects cs5 and cs4?

@Miatpi 1.0.3 would be the most recent version. I believe that all of their plugins our compatible with CS3-CS5.5 It should specify on Red Giant's website.

or if you are a really good animator you could animate the animal patronis, drag the frames into flash, then to after affects and add a blue glow.
