The band's Late Night Tales selection of post-punk, cult indie and counter-culture figureheads reflects the band's multifaceted sound, and draws comparisons with contemporary dreampop/chillwave/shoegaze/folk scenes on both sides of the Atlantic.

even though this album is just a compilation of their influences, this really surpassed all of my expectations. ever since it came out all ive been listening to is velvet underground, bauhaus, spacemen 3, etc. This album is really a gift for the younger generation

This doesnt even sound like mgmt, no shit its not them, but besides that, the bands they chose are influences on them, prety sure this song came out in the late 80s-early 90s
