  • Opening theme songs such as this are truly works of art. Today the emphasis is on computer generated imagery, back then it was all about the music.

  • @brill068 "Peter Falk will be misses" -- No, that was his WIFE! (As in "Mrs. Columbo")

(Just a little good-natured ribbing there) Falk will indeed be missed, and this opening theme was one of the all-time classics.

  • I don't remember Hec Ramsey

  • You know Colombo had to have its own slot all by itself. Peter Falk had created a monster of a character that stood apart from everyone else. Still, I enjoyed Rock Hudson and Dennis Weaver segments.

  • If anyone out there gets ME-Too TV, their Sunday mystery movie sort of re-creates this opening. Brilliant!

  • oooh Susan St James..with that scratchy voice...yummmmy!

  • The announcer at the end is Hank Simms, who also announced the opening titles of Quinn Martin's detective shows of the '70s {"'THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO'! A Quinn Martin Production....."}.

  • Man I agree, I remember snuggled up on the couch half asleep then that theme song would play and I would sit there glued for the next hour. I really miss that simpler time, no worries, no bills, no stress just safe on your family couch, wish I could have that back again...

  • Just this intro, brings back memories. I remember watching McMillian and Wife, McCloud and Columbo. I have little to no memory of Hec Ramsey. Man miss those days.

  • How about Amy Prentiss starring Jessica Walter

  • Okay, I have absolutely no memory of Hec Ramsey, but I watched the others religiously as a kid in the 70s.

  • WOW!!! This this bring back memories of when TV shows had

great actors/actress and script writing. Today it is nothing but

crap, esp. the so-called "reality TV"...which is badly "scripted"!

    I miss the early 70's to early 80's :(
