  • Once upon a while ago, An older fellow used to own this pub. He used to get very tired and fall asleep on a small seat at the end of a row of barrels. We had to help our self to the drinks and sort the change from a large pile of coins on the counter. Many great evenings at this place, many great memories. A real pub. I miss it greatly. 'A cider please'

  • Just the southwest coast path. Started in Swanage, at the park/carpark at the southern tip, and walked west. Only a couple of hours to get to Worth Matravers, and then relax at the pub. Bus back, or a straight road walk back to Swanage is only a little over an hour.

  • Wot route did you take for your walk? Could you post it? Always looking for somewhere to go for a good stroll.

Check out my photo slideshow of some of my favourite places in Dorset at my Channel! How many views do you recognise?

  • This is my most favouritest pub in the UK ! The Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel (Lake District) and The Oak (Fritham/New forest) being runners up.

  • Just came back from a week there. The pub is lovely and the area's beautiful.

  • I love the Square and Compass. It's a rediculously tiny pub and the surroundings really are beautiful. I was last there around Halloween and they had the biggest pumpkins I've ever seen arrayed around the garden.

  • Can't wait to get back there in the summer. The coast paths on summers evenings are stunning, as is the cider served at the pub!

  • I agreee, I first came here when I was 7... now every year me and my mum take one of my friends down to cycle to swanage.. say hello to the dogs there.. the dogs are so sweet..

  • nice video. I was there at that pub today after a really tough walk. Gorgeous village and pub I think you'd agree.
