The sideflip is often confused with a lot of other techniques. We at Children at Play hope this simple tutorial will help you understand and practice this impressive move.

Because this move is certainly dangerous, we'd like to add a few noteworthy comments:
1.) We seriously recommend considering a gym for practice, along with a trained professional for assistance. If you do not have access to these things, remember that you are attempting this technique at your own risk and it CAN be dangerous.

2.) Don't plan on landing it perfectly the first time you try it. Facts are, you probably won't. Failure is a step towards perfection, so don't let it discourage you. You HAVE to be ready to fail in order to succeed.

3.) NEVER attempt this technique alone. This is important. Should the unthinkable happen, a companion with a cell phone will be the best thing that ever happened to you.

We hope this helps you towards your path of learning the sideflip. Remember that creative experimentation is fun but the proper precautions must always be taken. Safety first, have fun, and enjoy sideflipping!

  • No arm swing upon takeoff :o

  • @Eshneh There really is, though. This video was made back when I first learned and was able to land sideflips. During that, "Holy-crap-I'm-so-cool-cause-I-can-do-this-so-I-have-to-show-the-world" phase. My technique has gotten crisper and smoother since. The reason the video seems to have no upwards swing is because right after jumping, I go down to grab my knees. Which works, but is not the best. I don't do that anymore, I swing my arms around in a wide circle.

  • @TheTot

Good stuff soldier, maybe re-make the tut :o? A lot of people including myself learn't the 1-2 step method.

  • @Eshneh I've thought about redoing most of my tutorials with clearer instructions and improved techniques but my mate that I usually go out with hasn't been up for it lately.

  • You know somethings up when he doesn't follow his own advice in the video :o

  • @Eshneh How don't I?

  • @OMGMikeHawk These are old. I've done hundreds and never hurt myself. In fact I've hurt myself more by screwing up a kong vault. If you don't like my method, don't use it, but don't say it doesn't work. I've never so much as twisted my ankle.

  • horrible lol u land so wrong but i guess if u want to brake an ankle some day keep doing it that way =]

  • In fact, I just re-watched my video, because it's been so long. I even say, and I quote, "swing arms upwards"

  • I don't exactly appreciate you acting as though you're any more of an expert on this than I am. I've been doing sideflips for a few years now, same technique every time, and I assure you no harm has come from it. Not once did I say "Don't use your arms" in the video. But it's the snap and tuck of the feet that result in the rotation. That's physics.

I didn't say this was the best, nor only way to sideflip. But it's far from the worse.

    Think before you speak, please.
