PLEASE READ BEFORE VIEWING

This video depicts the removal of Ozzy's wolf teeth. Though it looks gruesome, he really didn't feel much. Before the procedure, Ozzy was sedated (if you couldn't tell!) by a vet. Both the vet and the dentist (Jim Edwards) showed unbelievable patience and horsemanship as Ozzy tried to avoid the needle over and over again.

FYI: I'm posting this video the day after the dentist's visit. I saw Ozzy today and he is fine and munching away at everything as usual. :)

  • i showed this video to my gelding to show what they're going to do to him.. his only question was did the tooth fairy visit ozzie?

  • @bringsk Lol--the tooth fairy visited Ozzy as soon as the sedation wore off--with lots of treats! :) I actually still have his wolf teeth... :) Good luck to your gelding, though he won't miss them much...

  • Must be a more effective way to pull teeth by now.............your gouging them out not pulling. Root's get snapped off and left in the jaw. Then what? Absess ?

    Kinda primative.

Let's invent a proper retractor maybe.

Something that grips the tooth and inches it out inline. jmo

  • This video is more than a year old and my horse has NEVER had a problem with his teeth or jaw. This equine dentist did a great job and my horse is happy to see him any time he comes to the farm. Any medical advances are always helpful--good luck with your invention.

  • ouchy looks painful but i am glad he iss ok =] btw he is super cute

  • It looks painful, but he was in la-la land from the shot the vet gave him. He doesn't even flinch when they're pulled.

  • I love that my equine dentist doesn't sedate my horse for getting their teeth done. It is very hard on horses to be sedated. My mare and my gelding did fine with getting their wolf teeth pulled without the sedation. They were more relieved than anything.

  • looked pretty painless though I hope a local anisthetic was used anyways why remove wolf teeth anyway?

  • I hope they gave him lidocaine to numb the gum before they pulled the teeth.

  • @dahoss65 It's not legal unless your a vet, as these drugs could kill a horse and i would not recommend anyone injecting their horse intraveniously and im an equine dentist...

  • All horses have wolf teeth. Some dont come out, or they lose while eating, training, or cribbing.

  • I was lucky with my Boy.

No wolf teeth at all so I didn't have to encounter this type of adventure.

    Interesting.

    Yours recovered. Right on !
