This short video is from an extensive interview with Susan Neiman that adapts her book Evil in Modern Thought: An Alternative History of Philosophy, into a narrative film. We are building an interactive digital resource to showcase this film in its entirety and to foster collaboration and engagement with related resources and materials, as well as new interpretations. • after the death of madame du chatlet and the lisbon quake, voltaire became pessimistic and went through depression. he believed in god and posited if there is a ship, there's a shipbuilder, BUT... does the king of egypt care about the rats who are drowning in the holes of his ships?

  • wow! you talk in circles... Voltaire believe in a God creator but not in a God who intervenes. Takes 2 seconds to say that.
