The last part of this scene is the Rock Pool in Malibu Creek State Park. It was a 14 year old girl named Angie who was doing research on Mary Pickford and recognized the spot. It's been confirmed by several film historians. The rocks match what is there today!
I have like, 4 copies of this book with stills from this film that i've picked up over the years. I love the story...it starts off kind of like a fairy tale, but Webster allows Judy to become independent and also good hearted. It's mostly a socialist fairy tale, but it's such a charming book and she's such a delightful person it's easy to see why Mr. Pendleton is taken with her. Mary Pickford definitely fit the character. I want to see this film sometime!
The video appears to come from the DVD I produced for the Mary Pickford Foundation and Milestone Films some years ago. At least I presume it is ours, because I added the color tinting in post production, and no other versions of this film currently available are tinted, so far as I know. The DVD (with a musical score) is in print, and can be purchased through the usual sources.
I like your video clip and have rated it as awesome. Please check out my clip of silent movie star tobacco cards. They include: Charlie Chaplin, Rudolph Valentino, Mary Pickford, Lillian Gish, Tom Mix, Jackie Coogan, Harold Lloyd and many more.
