Thayne Gets Key to the City of Fort Pierce Plus Animal Control Ride-Along

Tamira Thayne, founder and CEO of Dogs Deserve Better, was awarded the Key to the City of Fort Pierce in February 2009. The award was presented by Mayor's wife Donna Benton, and special thanks go to Susan Parry of United Way for Animals for facilitating bringing Tami down, and to B.J. Gasparre and the Fort Pierce Police Department for authorizing the ride-along. To Marie Daines for her haunting Chained to You song.

I watched this. I hate to see dogs treated like this. But honestly this video was extremely mild compared to some. Still, my own sweet dog heard the whimpers coming for my speakers and whimpered. I let her up on the couch, she leaned against, and I held onto to her while watching this. IT just breaks my heart. I'm glad there are people like Thayne out there fighting to make changes.

Thats crazy that the lady says he does everything i tell him to do well then tell him to at least build a place to keep them poor dogs in that are not small Little boxes i mean wtf is up with that? If your not going to be kind enough to bring your dog inside at least be kind enough to not make them sleep in a F* box

Dogs should NOT be Lawn Ornaments - tied up or put in a pen, then ignored. They aren't status symbols either, and should not be used to make yourself look cool or tough, or to tote around with you like a ragdoll.

It's better to select a breed that suits your lifestyle, then honor it's adoration of you, because it will adore you - regardless of how you treat it - or mistreat it. This precious animal will still want to be with you . . . Sad that man can't appreciate that much, huh?

God bless you and your work. I live in Fla.(unfortunately) and the state is either incapable or unwilling to protect the CHILDREN, so I don't hold out much hope for a law banning this type of abuse.

I'm not ashamed to admit I almost lost it when I watched this. I smiled with pride when Tami spoke but then as soon as I saw those dogs, well, that did it. People who treat dogs this way show no more regard for their welfare than for an object. If you cannot bring the dog inside and make the dog part of your family, you should not have the dog. I hope that having the support of the mayor means reform is on the way. Thanks for sharing this, my friend.

Condemned to iive out their lives at the end of a chain. Not for a crime. Not as a punishment. Just because their owners think this is acceptable. It's not! Dogs definitely deserve better. So do all animals condemned to live as prisoners. Animals have no voice, they have no choice. We need to be their voice. Speak out for animals! Thank you, Tamira, for being a voice for chained dogs. Congratulations on being heard. You are making a difference in so many lives. You teach people to be better.

it´s always heartbreaking to see a happy dog swinging it´s tale, chained, cause they all look like all they´d want to do is to play play and PLAY and have fun with their owners :) communicate with them and other dogs!
